CORVALLIS After Oregon State's Thursday practice session, I spent time seeking to gauge the temperature with the Beavers heading into Friday's Civil Battle matchup with Oregon in Autzen Stadium.

Oregon's losses to Stanford as well as Arizona don't provide more hope or inspiration, Mannion provided.
"We go into every game expecting as we play our best football, we could beat anyone," he explained. "That's no different for Oregon. Knowing other teams be successful next to them gives us some idea whatever we can try to do schematically.
"But from a mental aspect, we have to get into every game expecting to win, no matter whether (the opponent has) nine wins or one. If we need other teams beat them to feel good about our chances, we've been in bad shape.Inches
