Government says that it has ordered the repairs of several pumps on the rice-growing Essequibo CoastPM Moses Nagamootoowhich are believed to have been sabotaged.The pumps are being repaired by the Regional Administration, with a Government statement stressing that their functioning is critical for the sustenance and development of agriculture in that region.The intervention comes days after a high-level Government team headed by Prime Minister Nagamootoo visited the region.Essequibo rice farmers are currently preparing for the next crop, with drainage and irrigation critical to this process.According to Government, of the nine pumps owned and operated by the Region Two administration, only two were in working condition.“There are persons who are doing their own little mischief to ensure that the Guyana bus does not reach its destination to prosperity.
