I can’t go there right now,” were words of Michael Williams as he pleaded guilty to the offence of fraudulent conversion.Williams, of Albouystown appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry unrepresented yesterday.According to police prosecutor,Aron Baynes Jersey, Corporal Venetta Pindar, on November 15, 2010, the accused was entrusted with $100,000 by Nazim Parsha to purchase scrap metal but the accused converted the money to his own use and benefit.The prosecutor added that on the day of the incident, Parsha handed over the said amount of cash to the accused to purchase crap metals but after some time had elapsed and the accused failed to carry out his end of the argument, Parsha became suspicious and reported the matter.As a result, the police launched an investigation and the accused was arrested and charged.As the Magistrate questioned him about the money he allegedly converted, Williams mentioned that he had already reimbursed Parsha $20,000 but the remainder he spent on his medical bills.“I already gave he back $20,000 and I take de rest and look after myself cause I was sick.”He was allowed bail in the sum of $50,000. The matter was made returnable on February 18. |
