You will be under constant scrutiny by your commanders and by those whom you will eventually lead, and most importantly, the public we serve,” Commodore Best told the Ensigns.The reminder came at a time when ranks of the Guyana Defence Force as well as their counterparts have increasingly been involved in criminal activities,Jordan Shoes For Sale, which is gradually eroding public confidence in the security forces.Thirteen ranks from the Guyana Police Force, nine from the GDF, four each from the Guyana Fire Service and the Guyana Prison Service and one from the Belizean Army, inclusive of three females,Cheap Nike Huarache Shoes, made up Course Number 42.This is the first time that ranks of the Guyana Police Force have outnumbered their counterparts from the GDF.At a special ceremony at Base Camp Ayanganna, which was also attended by relatives, Commodore Best told the Ensigns that he was proud that they had weathered the storm so far and have come to a juncture where others have failed.According to Best, it is expected that a course of this nature will see some attrition and the fact that 31 Ensigns have reached this stage is testament to their dedication to become good officers.He however warned the ensigns that they must not begin to think that the pomp and ceremony of the occasion are the only reasons for being part of such an elite group.“Your future will be filled with activities that will cause you to be continually judged. Your character will be tested and the strength and weakness of our institutions, separately and collectively will be ascertained.”Best urged them to be mindful that there are still some aspects of training which are yet to be completed.“You are expected to continue to display the highest level of discipline and remain accountable to the leadership of the respective services, your course officers and instructors,Air Max 97 For Sale,” Best told the Ensigns.The Ensigns were also reminded that they are being prepared for leadership in a changing environment in which the joint forces are now more responsible for national security, hence the current and future leadership must be constantly aware of the shifting sands.Among the many other bits of advice given by the Chief-of-Staff was the underlying need for teamwork.“Today’s military has no place for the mind that thinks that his or her way is the only way possible. Teamwork is essential. Understand your role on the team and half of the team’s task is completed,” the Chief-of-Staff said.In a few weeks, the Ensigns will complete another round of training after which they will be Commissioned Officers of the various organizations. |
