| As deaths on the roadways of Guyana continue to rise, police statistics have shown that July has recorded the highest number of road accidents for the year.Latoya ThompsonAccording to statistics presented by the GPF,Stitched Jerseys, there were 58 fatal accidents from January to the end of July. Rather, the bloodiest months were May, which recorded 14 deaths from 11 accidents, and February, which saw 14 deaths from 7 accidents.Meanwhile, speeding and inattentiveness continue to be the leading causes of road deaths. From January to July, the police say that 29 deaths were as a result of speeding while 18 were caused by inattentiveness. Furthermore, driving under the influence of alcohol accounted for 10 deaths while failure to conform to road signs resulted in one death.Additionally, the newest statistics show that pedestrians are killed nearly twice more than any other road user.
