| Region Three Chairman Julius Fearber says the region’s drainage and irrigation capacity has been boosted with the addition of three drainage pumps.According to Faerber, only last week, the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo), in the wake of the current rainy season, loaned the region three drainage pumps.The pumps have since been set up in Vreed-en-Hoop, Windsor Forest and La Jalousie.In the meantime, Faerber said, as the rain continues, there are reports of minor flooding in some areas.These areas, he said, include Canals Numbers One and Two, Versailles, Pouderoyen and Vreed-en-Hoop.He said one area of concern remains the Boerasirie Creek. According to Faerber, the water level in the creek is very high. He, however, noted that the situation there is being monitored closely as the rainfall continues.In addition to monitoring,Cheap Jerseys China, Faerber said, as the water in the creek continues to rise, the region is maintaining a 24-hour drainage system. He said the water is being released at three different locations.He noted, too, that all the dumps and kokers in the region are fully functional.Meanwhile, over in Region Five, Regional Chairman Harrynarine Baldeo said the rainfall has eased somewhat, but there are still minor reports of water on the land.“I would consider it flooding, but there are places which are below the sea level and rely mainly on the tides, so we must expect a little water on the land…but it is nothing to be alarmed about,” Baldeo said.He, however, noted that the situation is being monitored, but in the event of heavy rainfall, the region will be relying on the MMA drainage system, which he deems adequate enough to deal with any excess water on the land. |
