Interested persons can contact the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) Head office and mining stations.Meanwhile, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Robert Persaud announced that Guyana will be attending the annual Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) International Convention, Trade Show and Investors’ Exchange.He said that this is the world’s leading Convention for investors, companies and organizations in, or connected with, mineral exploration and development and mining. The event will be held from March 4th to 7th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (South Building) in Canada.Guyana will be represented at the show by Minister Persaud, Commissioner GGMC, Ms Karen Livan and Deputy Commissioner GGMC, Rickford Vieira.The Minister explained that the four-day annual event has grown in size, stature and influence since it began in 1932, and presently, is the promotional event of choice for the world’s mineral industry. In addition to meeting over 1,000 exhibitors and 27,700 attendees from 120 countries, it allows an opportunity to attend technical sessions, short courses as well as social and networking events.The PDAC trade show provides mineral explorers, developers and financiers with the latest information on new products, exploration concepts, prospective areas that are available for exploration and results of recent work by property surveys, geological surveys and mineral commodity evaluation based on current conditions. In addition, deposits that were recently discovered, soon to be opened mines and industry trends are discussed during the technical sessions.Attendees at this event include Geo-scientists, Consultants, Prospectors, Mining Executives, Exploration Managers, mining company personnel, government and geological survey officials, financiers, service and equipment suppliers, mining association representatives and the mining media. Guyana Geology and Mines Commission will widely disseminate its Mining Sector Investment and Information brochure at the Convention, at which it has had high-level representatives annually for the past twenty years.It was further disclosed that the Canadian High Commissioner, David Devine, and his Trade Commissioner will be sponsoring a “Guyana Day” on the 4th March at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Room 104 C to promote mining sector opportunities in Guyana. An overview of the performance of the mineral industry for the past 14 years, and investment opportunities in the mining sector will be presented. This forum will also provide an opportunity to interact with mining investors. |
