| Ivor English,Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Arsenal Jersey, the Lions Club Governor General for District 60A (Guyana, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago),http://www.theworldsoccersshop.com/Wales-Ashley-Williams-Jersey.html, has outlined his goals for the new fiscal year and one of them is the establishment of a District Foundation Fund.The Fund will be used to add additional resources to the coffers of the region to render assistance where necessary and will depend on contributions from the 57 clubs in the region.Also on the cards for this year, according to English, is a vision care programme where the Lions Clubs in the region will be utilising their share of the monies raised by Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) to tackle blindness.LCIF and Lions around the world have exceeded their campaign challenge goal of US$200 million for their flagship,Jesus Navas Manchester City Jersey, global blindness-prevention programme, ‘Sight First.’Funds raised during ‘Sight First’, a three-year worldwide campaign operated by the international charitable foundation, are geared at saving or restoring the vision of more than 37 million people around the world. As of June 26, Lions had raised US$200.3 million.Mr English noted that the programme was not new to Guyana but that he was aiming to intensify the drive. The new District Governor added that a literacy drive will also be on the cards.He commended those clubs that have already set out to undertake their initiative “Education moulds a nation.”In addition to his goals, English has as his theme, “Conservation through continued cooperation,Marshon Lattimore Saints Jersey, collaboration, commitment and compromise.”The goals established for the jurisdiction are: Encourage a functional approach to leadership to allow for forward planning leadership development critical to delivering programme effectively; Heighten awareness of Lions Clubs International Foundation—this is an important fund that is used for large disasters around the world; Promote a youth outreach programme that will incorporate secondary schools and universities to sensitise them to what Lionism is about; and Increase membership growth, among others.The International Association of Lions Clubs began as the dream of Chicago businessman, Melvin Jones.He believed that local business clubs should expand their horizons from purely professional concerns to the betterment of their communities and the world at large.
