Mr. Jupiter hails from East Coast Demerara.The duo who both recalled their aunt as a disciplinarian, considered it a blessed opportunity to be a part of the celebrations. Among the guests was AFC councilor, Mr. Francis Darchiville, who presented a gift to Mrs. Jackson.Mrs. Lyght described the centenarian as a very good aunt; one who taught both her and her brother Dereck,Anthony Steen Dolphins Jersey, good manners and also insisted that they perform household chores from a very young age.Mr. Jupiter recounted that his aunt made him wash his own clothing and clean the home. He described the affable centenarian as “a very good person” and admitted that he regrets his inability to returning his gratitude to his aunt in the form of taking care of her.Mrs. Jackson who is articulate and still agile, showered praises on God for affording the blessing of completing another year. Although she is visually impaired, she is very much in good health and still exhibits an amazing familiarity with her surroundings and people.Aunt Millie, who lives alone at her Reliance home, and has been doing so for 60 years now, still prepares her own meals, attends the Seventh Day Adventist church in the community regularly and makes frequent visits to her neighbour.Mrs. Jackson said she still uplifts her pension from the Anna Regina post office, but with the assistance of her neighbour who transports her with her minibus.Millicent Jackson was born on November 26, 1904, in Suddie, to Ernest Arthur and Rebecca Simon a\k Rachel.She was the second of five children,Cheap NFL Jerseys China, the others being Joseph, Ernest, Agnes Babsie and Albertina Simon, all of whom are long deceased.She still remembers her father, who was a gold miner and her mother, a good disciplinarian, who was tasked with the responsibility of taking care of their home and her other siblings.Aunt Millie recollected that she was naturally a quiet child, who received her formal education at a Methodist Nursery School at Bush Lot, and later attended Payne’s Primary in Anna Regina.After dropping out of school in the fourth form due to financial constraints, Aunt Millie said that she worked in Georgetown before, returning to the Coast, where she continued in the same field,Throwback Jerseys, as a domestic for many years, before marring Leyland Jackson, an operator who she had met through a friend.According to Mrs. Jackson, she and her late husband courted for quite some time before they got married in 1939.That union didn’t produce any children. Leyland Jackson died in 1972.When she became a widow, Aunt Millie recalled she became totally involved in the task of taking care of herself.She baked bread, cakes, salara and sweet cassava bread, which she sold in the village and its environs, using her bicycle as a means of transportation. It was this that gained her popularity.Recalling vividly, Mrs. Jackson said that she lost her sight to glaucoma in 1983, but that has not deterred her from enjoying life. Aunt Millie said her resolute faith in God has grown over the years, and in spite of her disability, she is grateful of still being privileged to perform the basic household duties and moving around on her own.For Aunt Millie the radio is her friend. |
